Resonance-Optimized Audiophile Turntable with 10cc EVO Tonearm, Magnetic Suspension and Optional Sumiko Starling Phono Cartridge

DESCRIPTION

Extensive research and development have precipitated to the most recent iteration of this truly inspired design – RPM 10 Carbon. It uses a CNC-machined MDF plinth filled with hard-resin-coated steel pellets to further increase mass and heighten the resonance-absorbing/dispersing effect of the ‘sandwich’ construction. Complex heat treatment and a carbon surface coating ensure the low resonance levels you expect from a high-end record player. The mass-loaded chassis is effectively decoupled from its surface via the included Ground it Carbon isolation platform and its magnetic feet. With opposing magnets in the feet of the both the Ground it Carbon as well as the turntable itself, RPM 10 Carbon is all but floating.

Combined with a polished aluminum platter with internal TPE damping and a vinyl top, the inverted ceramic main bearing delivers stable turntable speed with an extra-low rumble. The platter and table are designed around mass – no need for a sub-platter here. The massive outboard belt-drive motor is equipped with precise electronic motor control, featuring a switch for speed change between 33 and 45rpm.

The unparalleled 10cc Evolution tonearm with conical carbon-fiber tonearm and inverted bearing ensures perfect tracking, even with demanding phono cartridges. High-purity copper is used for the internal wiring and the package includes a high-grade, purpose designed 1.23m DIN-RCA phono cable (DIN-XLR available as an add-on).The DC power supply powers the AC motor. With an electrically isolated motor and physically isolated plinth, expect, fantastic speed stability and ultra-quiet backgrounds.

Inside the Plinth

RPM 9 & 10 Carbon, Xtension 9, 10 & 12 Evolution, and Signature 10 & 12 use plinths that are more than meets the eye. These high-end turntables not only use multi-density fiber (MDF, which absorbs resonance), but inside the plinths are also “central gravity points” filled will steel pellets. Drawing harmful resonance to the central gravity point all but eliminates the potential for plinth and bearing noise to reach the tonearm and cartridge. Pellets are used as opposed to a solid alloy due to their dispersion effect where a solid alloy may resonate. This design heightens the overall mass of these turntables as well, a well-known approach to optimizing sonics.

Food for Thought

Paired with the right phono preamp and upgraded with a Sumiko Starling moving coil phono cartridge pre-mounted, it’s one of the best audiophile turntables available for its price. Include a high-quality amplifier to optimize sound quality from your vinyl records. While we recommend the Starling, the RPM 10 is built to give you the most out of any MC or moving magnet cartridge. This is the best performing player in its price range. Analog lovers upgrading from an entry-level turntable or automatic turntable will be blown away at how it changes their audio system. High-fidelity music lovers will love the way it plays nicely with any phono stage or preamp. For Pro-Ject diehards, this is a profound upgrade from the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO and other midrange turntables in our selection. Additionally, our Cover it 1 dust cover is a perfect fit for those rare moments there’s not a record spinning on your table. Don’t just take our word for it.
